El residuo se convierte en refugio. Integramos las especies más sensibles de nuestro entorno en la arquitectura de Valverde de la Vera. A través de Tejiendo la calle transformamos lonas publicitarias de PVC en grandes patchworks, dando una segunda vida a un material de desecho como parasoles generadores de sombras. Para su realización, reutilizamos lonas plásticas cedidas gracias a la colaboración de Jorge León, responsable de escenografía de Movistar+.

[2026] Cosemos mariposas. Gracias a la asesoría técnica de José Gabriel González Vázquez, del Microrrefugio de Mariposas Almaillo de Villamiel. Entre las especies representadas se encuentran algunas protegidas y otras que están desapareciendo: Limenitis reducta (Staudinger, 1901), Aglais io (Linnaeus, 1758), Euplagia quadripunctaria (Poda, 1761), Proserpinus proserpina (Pallas, 1772) y Euphydryas aurinia (Rottemburg, 1775).

[2025] Confeccionamos truchas. Una especie que años atrás abundaba en las gargantas de la zona, pero que hoy en día es cada vez más difícil de avistar.

[2024] Preparamos bandadas de vencejos. Estas aves toman las calles para recordar la importancia de una especie que cohabitaba en nuestros pueblos y que ahora está desapareciendo. Fue declarada Ave del Año 2021 por SEO/BirdLife.

[2023] Hacemos flora protegida. Tejemos la hoja del arce de Montpellier, la flor de la asperilla, el delicado clavelino y la flor de la Vitaliana primuliflora. Todas ellas son especies incluidas en el Catálogo Regional de Especies Vegetales Amenazadas de Extremadura, actualizado con la Lista Roja de la flora vascular española (2008).

Patching Up the Landscape

Waste becomes a refuge. We integrate the most sensitive local species into the architecture of Valverde de la Vera. Through Tejiendo la calle we transform PVC advertising banners into large patchwork pieces, giving a second life to waste material by turning it into shade-providing canopies. To create them, we reuse plastic banners donated thanks to the collaboration of Jorge León, the head of set design of Movistar+.

[2026] We sew butterflies. Thanks to the technical advice of José Gabriel González Vázquez, from the Almaillo Butterfly Micro-Refuge in Villamiel. Among the species represented are some protected ones and others that are disappearing: Limenitis reducta (Staudinger, 1901), Aglais io (Linnaeus, 1758), Euplagia quadripunctaria (Poda, 1761), Proserpinus proserpina (Pallas, 1772), and Euphydryas aurinia (Rottemburg, 1775).

[2025] We make trout. A species that years ago was abundant in the gorges of the area, but which today is increasingly difficult to spot.

[2024] We prepare flocks of swifts. These birds take to the streets to remind us of the importance of a species that once lived in our towns and villages and is now disappearing. It was declared Bird of the Year 2021 by SEO/BirdLife.

[2023] We produce protected flora. We weave the leaf of the Montpellier maple, the flower of the woodruff, the delicate carnation, and the flower of the Vitaliana primuliflora. All of these are species included in the Regional Catalogue of Threatened Plant Species of Extremadura, updated with the Red List of Spanish vascular flora (2008).
